Several sources have announced today that due to a neck injury, left tackle Chris Samuels will be placed on injured reserve list for the rest of the season to avoid further injury.
The decision to retire will not be announced to December or January. His injury occurred several weeks ago during the Panthers game, and it appears that he also has a condition called “stenosis”, which causes narrowing of the spine.
Samuels is a 6-time Pro Bowler and until the 2009 season, had only missed 8 games since he was drafted in 2000. He will not make any decisions about retiring until the end of the season.
