Andre Agassi Comes Clean

Andre Agassi’s Open- An Autobiography revealed more information than fans were ready to hear. Agassi is a professional tennis player, and has won eight Grand Slam tournaments and an Olympic gold medal. He also was a frequent crystal meth user in 1997.

For much of his life he hated tennis, and his father, and that’s what led him to drugs. Practicing four to five hours a day before you’re six years old was one of the many things his father had him to in order to perfect his game.

Agassi failed a drug test, but claimed it was a spiked drink from his manager. He was given a second chance by tennis authorities. Unfortunately, he was given that chance based on a lie.

Many people are now saying that Agassi’s titles should be removed because of his drug use. While I’m not sure I agree with this, I will find it very hard to think of him in the same light again.
