Serena Williams Receives Fine

After a vulgar-outburst at the U.S. Open in September, Serena Williams faces an $82,500 fine which she received earlier this week. Her outburst was broadcast on national television, so it wasn’t something that could be brushed under the rug. If she violates any more rules in the next two years, she could risk up suspension. It took almost three months to decide on the punishment.

This whole dramatic event occurred after a line judge called a penalty on something Williams felt she did not commit. She cursed and threatened the judge, which is extremely immature for the number one tennis player in the United States.

I’m not sure how the fine was determined, but I think it would be a lot less severe if it wasn’t publicly broadcast. Hopefully Williams will learn her (very expensive) lesson.
