Pie Out for the Season

After an injury that resulted in a strained quadriceps, left fielder Felix Pie will be out for the reason of the season. He, along with outfielders Nolan Reimold and Adam Jones, was forced to end his season earlier than expected.

Reimold replaced Pie due to poor performance, and Pie began playing again once center fielder Jones was placed on the disabled list. Jones suffered from a sprained ankle, and Reimold required surgery for a torn Achilles tendon, which ended their seasons early.

The only remaining uninjured outfielder is Nick Markakis, and Dave Trembley has no other choice but to play Luke Scott and Jeff Fiorentino in outfield when necessary.

NFL Bans Tweeting Before and After Games

With Twitter becoming such a phenomenon lately, it’s no wonder that the NFL has put restrictions on it lately. The rules now state that players are not allowed to “Tweet” or send text messages during team functions and games. This includes players, coaches and even those closely associated with the team. They will also not be allowed to update their social networking sites, such as Twitter or Facebook, 90 minutes before the game starts, and not until after all of the interviews are completed after the game.
But players and staff are the only ones restricted. The NFL also said that media that attend games are not allowed to update the social media sites during games, even if it’s just to provide updates. This is mainly due to the fact that the NFL would prefer people watch the game on TV as opposed to watching updates on the computer.

We know that players use Twitter as a venting outlet (cough Robert Henson), so it’s only a matter of time before someone decides to break the rules and Tweet during the game.

B-Rob On Top

With each game, the O’s get closer and closer to 100 losses, and one of the worst seasons they have ever seen. However, not everything the O’s touch turns to mud. Brian Roberts is one of five players since 1900, who was able to steal 25 bases, hit 50 doubles, earn 70 walks and 100 runs for 3 straight seasons. The only other players who’ve done this are Craig Biggio, Bobby Abreu, Tris Speaker and Kiki Cuyler. He has also hit for 55 doubles this season, tied for the most doubles hit in a season by a switch-hitter. However, many people are unaware of this because the O’s lost the game 9-0.

Skins Hand Detroit a Win

I'm not sure why, but us Skins fans tend to think we're invincible sometimes. For the past week or so there have been jokes about the Lions beating us. No one really thought it was going to happen, but we thought it was pretty funny to think about. Until today. When we lost horribly. To the LIONS for crying out loud.

Detroit was ahead 13-0 until the 3rd quarter! With a rookie quarterback fresh out of college (I’m not quite sure he even graduated)! Did this actually happen? Are the Skins really as bad as they played today?

I blame it on Tom Cruise. Who allowed him on the field? He was probably trying to push his scientology beliefs on poor Zorny before the game. Or maybe it’s due to the Remy rap that is played over and over and over and basically fried everyone’s brains.

How else can you explain the 19-14 lost to the worst team in the NFL? I refuse to believe that it’s due to the inadequate coaching skills and a team that can’t seem to get their act together. No… that couldn’t possibly be right could it? Hopefully the Skins will get their coach a going away present. Bye Jim Zorn, it was nice knowing you.
